About Emma Randall

Mindful Eating Practitioner (MSc Health Psychology, Dip NT)

I’m Emma, a Mindful Eating Practitioner specialising in emotional eating, food psychology and behaviour change. I help people understand why they eat the way they do, so that they can break long‑standing patterns, feel calmer around food, and build a more peaceful, empowered relationship with eating.

My work blends Health Psychology, Nutritional Therapy, and mindful eating, giving clients a compassionate, psychology‑led service. It is informed by evidence‑based approaches to behaviour change from Health Psychology and mindful eating, and grounded in research‑supported principles from nutritional science.

Why I Do This Work

My interest in emotional eating began with my own experience. I know what it feels like to use food for comfort, to feel stuck in “on/off” patterns, and to feel frustrated by habits that don’t match your intentions. Years ago, I realised that lasting change wasn’t about restriction- it was about understanding the psychology behind eating and learning to approach food with self‑compassion rather than self‑criticism.

That insight led me to study Health Psychology at Master’s level, train in Nutritional Therapy, and dedicate over a decade to helping others change their relationship with food in a way that feels supportive, deeply personal, and sustainable. It’s about learning to eat with awareness and emotional steadiness, rather than dieting or numbers, and that’s the heart of my work today.

My Approach: Psychology First, Food Second

Mindful eating practitionerEmotional eating isn’t about food- it’s about feelings, thoughts, triggers, stress responses, and long‑established patterns. My approach helps clients to:-

  • understand emotional, habitual and automatic eating patterns
  • identify specific triggers
  • regulate the nervous system around food
  • reduce guilt, shame and ‘all‑or‑nothing’ thinking
  • build self‑trust and body awareness
  • make choices that feel aligned with one’s own best interest and needs, rather than reactive or rule-led.

Nutrition education very much helps to support the process, but psychology leads it.

This is not counselling or psychotherapy but rather, psychology‑led behaviour change support rooted in mindful eating, emotional regulation, and nutritional education.
